The Mulvane women's soccer team finished in 3rd place in the Wichita North tournament with wins over North and Liberal.

The Mulvane women's soccer team participated in the annual Wichita North Tournament this past week. Their first game was against North on Tuesday, May 3rd and the Wildcats took an early 4-1 lead in the first half. North made a run in the second half but the Cats were able to hold on to the 5-4 win. "Word of the day...resiliency!" said Coach Myers. "The girls did a great job of staying together and making adjustments during the game to keep moving forward." The Wildcats were led by Karlie Kanaga who finished with 4 goals and 1 assist. Emma Kolbe dropped in 1 goal and had 2 assists and Cydnee Adams had one assist in the game. Rylie Schiffelbein guarded the Wildcat's net and finished the game with 14 saves with 18 shots on goal.

The second game was against the tough 6A Garden City Buffaloes on Thursday, May 5th, and the girls played a great match, forcing a 1-1 overtime and falling in overtime penalty kicks for a 1-2 final score. Karlie Kanaga scored the Wildcats' only goal in the game and Rylie Schiffelbein had 15 saves in the game. "Maddie Shaw, Kamryn Nolan, Teagan Garrison, and Ashlyn Alumbaugh had a big night against a very fast Garden City," said Coach Myers. "The girls left it all on the field!"

The girls topped off the tournament with a 6-0 shutout over the Liberal Redskins on Saturday, May 7th. Karlie Kanaga led the Wildcats in goals with 3 and Emma Kolbe had 2 goals and 4 assists in the game. Emma Hoffman found the back of the net with 1 goal. The Wildcats' defense of Alumbaugh, Garrison, Nolan, and Shaw kept the Liberal offense at bay and allowed only 4 shots on Rylie Schiffelbein.

The Wildcats will hit the field again on Monday at Circle to battle for the Cats' first league championship in school history with JV starting at 5:00 PM and varsity at 6:30 PM.
