It was a 3 game week for the Mulvane Girls soccer team last week. The Cats traveled to Buhler for another windy and tough contest against the Crusaders on Friday, April 29th. The teams were all square at halftime 0-0 but the Cats started to pour it on in the second half with 3 goals by Karlie Kanaga and 1 goal by Emma Hoffman with assists from Emma Kolbe, Kanaga, and Hoffman. Rylie Schiffelbein guarded the Wildcat's net and finished the game with 7 saves with 7 shots on goal.

"I could easily write a paragraph about each individual player but when it comes down to it the greatest highlight of the night was how well the team played together," said Coach Myers. "From making tough steps on defense and covering for each other to passing the ball all around and making runs all night long. I cannot overemphasize how great the girls played both individually and together as a team. Each one had many, many big plays on the way to our 4-0 win."

The JV team battled with the Crusaders but both teams' defense held tight and the game ended in a 0-0 tie. The highlight of the evening was senior Michaela Anderson playing in her first game of the season as she was released after a year-long ACL recovery. "She is not yet full speed on the physical side, but her mind is right there. She did a great job of communicating with the JV girls on the field and at halftime," said Coach Myers. "Maddie Shaw and Abbie Malanchuk tried out new positions on the field and did a really good job," said Myers.

The Wildcats celebrated senior night on Tuesday, April 26th, and hosted the Rose Hill Rockets. The Cats have 5 seniors (Grace Malanchuk, Emma Kolbe, Michaela Anderson, Aleecia Ketcher, and Kamryn Nolan) on the team this year and they were recognized before the game. The Wildcats took an early lead with 2 goals in the first half and topped off the 6-0 win with 4 goals in the second half. Karlie Kanaga, Emma Kolbe, and Jade Smallwood all found the back of the net for the Cats with 2 assists each by Kanaga and Kolbe.

The Mulvane defense recorded another shutout on the season and Rylie Schiffelbein guarded the Wildcat's net and finished the game with 6 saves with 6 shots on goal.

The team traveled to Winfield on Monday, April 25th, and again defeated the Vikings 10-0 with 4 goals each from Emma Kolbe and Karlie Kanaga and 1 goal each from Emma Hoffman and Kierra Cain. The defense held the Vikings back all game and only allowed 3 shots on goal with Rylie Schiffelbein finishing the 3 saves. "Haley Shaw and Ashlyn Alumbaugh both had a good night helping Rylie with the shutout," said Coach Myers. "The girls (on both squads) are still progressing, which is great. The varsity squad did a really good job of moving the ball all around the field and the defenders are becoming more confident in helping keep the attack going," said Myers.
