MHS - Women's Soccer / April 19, 2023 By Kasey McDowell
The women's varsity soccer team faced the always-tough McPherson Bullpups at home on Tuesday, April 18th and the teams battled for almost 100 minutes on a very windy evening. The Bullpups slipped one into the net early in the first half, but the Mulvane defense played an amazing game with goalkeeper Rylie Schiffelbein finishing with 16 saves with 17 shots on goal. The Wildcats tied the game up in the second half with sophomore Cydnee Adams finding the net off of a Teagan Garrison corner kick. This was Cydnee's first varsity goal of her career.
The teams ended regulation tied 1-1 and went to a 10-minute overtime period. The Bullpups had the wind, but the Mulvane defense held strong to force a second overtime. The Cats had the wind in the second overtime and with just about a minute to play, the Wildcats had another corner kick, this time with senior Emma Hoffman with the corner duties. She kicked a perfect pass and once again, Cydnee Adams punched the ball into the net for the game-winner.

The JV girls played a great game but fell 0-2 against the Bullpups.

The Wildcats moved to 4-5 on the season and 3-3 in league play. The JV girls will be back in action this weekend at the Northwest tournament and the varsity girls will be back in action next Tuesday, April 25th at Rose Hill.
