MHS - Men's Basketball / January 15, 2023 By Kasey McDowell
The Mulvane men's basketball team hosted the Buhler Crusaders last Tuesday and made the long trip to McPherson on Friday for a couple of AVCTL D3 games. The varsity team was fairly even with the Crusaders for most of the game, going into halftime down 21-24, but the Cats were able to tie the game up in the 3rd and took the win 50-47. Kaiden Abasolo put up a great performacne and led the Cats with 25 points and on the boards with 8 rebounds.
The JV team was also evenly matched with Buhler and the Cats went into halftime down 32-36. The teams were dead even in the second half and the Cats were unable to make up the 4 points, falling 56-60. Cooper Slayton led the Wildcats with 20 points on the evening.
The Fr/So team had trouble getting points to fall against Buhler as they fell 15-43. Dylan Mow led the Wildcats with 8 points in the game.

The Cats made the long trip to McPherson on Friday for a league matchup against the #1 team in 4A. The Varsity team fell behind in the first quarter 7-17, but matched the Bullpups in the second quarter 16-16. McPherson increased their lead in the third quarter and the Cats lost 48-71. 
Manny Myers led the Wildcats with 16 points in the game and Kaiden Abasolo led the Cats on the boards with 9 rebounds.
The JV and Fr/So teams had trouble stopping the Bullpups as they fell 29-81 and 36-61 respectively. Parker Clubb led the Cats with 12 points in the JV game and Dylan Mow led the Cats with 8 points in the Fr/So game.

The varsity boys are sitting at 3-6 on the season and 2-3 in AVCTL D3 league play. The varsity team will travel to Chaparral on Wednesday, January 18th for the first game of the Roadrunner Classic against Chaparral at 7:00 PM.
