The Mulvane High School basketball team resumed their 2022-23 season on Thursday this past week with a trip to Augusta for a league matchup against the Orioles. The teams were evenly matched in the first half and went into halftime tied 32-32. The Orioles edged the Cats in the 3rd quarter and the Wildcats were unable to make up the points, falling 55-59. Junior Aiden McKee put in another top performance with 26 points for the Cats and also led the Cats on the boards with 6 rebounds.
The JV team faced a tough Augusta team and the game came down to just a few points and the Cats fell 51-54. The Wildcats found themselves down by 6 at halftime 14-20. They won both the 3rd and 4th quarters, but were unable to make up the difference and fell 52-54. Cooper Slayton led the Wildcats with 8 points on the evening.
The Fr/So had trouble getting points to fall in the second half against Augusta as they fell 27-51. The teams were close at halftime with the Cats down 16-17, but the second half was all Orioles as they outscored the Wildcats 34-11. Canon Lazier led the boys with 10 points in the game.
