The Mulvane volleyball teams had long days of tourney play on Saturday, get 4th & 2nd Place. C-Team remains undefeated.

The Mulvane High School varsity volleyball team had a long day on Saturday at the Ark City tournament and played six total matches, going 3-3 on the day and coming home with a fourth place finish. The Cats started the pool play against Clearwater and defeated the Indians in 2 games (25-13, 25-20). The next opponent was a tough Andover Central squad and the Cats fell in 2 games (8-25, 23-25). The third game for the Wildcats was versus Wichita South and the Cats won handily 25-5 and 25-18. Rounding out the pool play for the Cats was Goddard, and the girls defeated the Lions in 2 games as well (25-20, 25-20).

The Wildcats had a tough road in the bracket play and faced 6A Campus and fell in 2 games (13-25, 19-25). Mulvane faced Ark City in the 3rd/4th place game and started strong in the first game winning 25-16, but Ark City came back in games 2 and 3, winning both by just 2 points 23-25 and 26-28.

Senior Emily Schmidt led the team with 43 kills on the day and 11 aces. Sophomores Madi Cunningham, Lexi Cunningham, and Makenna Treat all finished the day with 19 kills and Madi & Lexi finshed with 10 and 8 aces respectively. Treat led the team with 8 blocks on the day. Junior Ashlyn Alumbaugh and freshman Charli Richardson led the team in assists with 50 and 44. Senior labero Karlie Kanaga led the team in digs with 58 on the day.

The JV girls also had a long day of games on Saturday at the Conway Springs tournament, playing five games total and going 3-2 on the day and bringing home a 2nd place finish. The girls started pool play against Clearwater and they went to three games, winning the match 2-1 (19-25, 25-19, 15-2). The second match was against the host school and the girls took down the Cardinals in two games (25-16, 25-13). Rounding out the pool play, the Wildcats face a tough Cheney team and the girls took it to three games, but fell 1-2 (25-13, 23-25 2-15).

The JV girls won the first match 2-1 of bracket play against Garden Plain in some very exciting games (20-25, 26-24, 16-14). The Cats faced Cheney again in the championship match and kept it very close in a couple of the games, but fell 1-2 to the Cardinals (28-26, 16-25, 13-15). The girls had a great day and brought home the 2nd place plaque.

The C-team continued their dominance this season with another three wins to stay undefeated at Buhler last Thursday. The Cats faced Rose Hill and the match went to three games, but the Cats came away with the win (25-23, 23-25 15-5). The girls faced the Winfield Vikings in the second game of the evening and got the 2-0 win (25-18, 25-17). The last game of the night for the Cats was against the host team and the Wildcats had a fairly close game with the Crusaders, but got the 2-0 win (25-21, 27-25).

The varsity and JV teams will be back in action this evening with the JV and varsity traveling to Buhler. The C-Team will be back in action this Thursday at home.
