The Mulvane High School and Middle School cross country teams kicked off their 2022-23 season last Thursday, September 1st at the Clearwater Invitational. This meet features a 1-mile run for 7th grade and a 2-mile run for 8th through 12th grades. Mulvane's highest placement was 8th grader Ethan Hankins who grabbed the gold in the 2-mile run with a time of 12:39.42.
The high school team finished the day with 4 medalists (freshman/sophomore races medaled to 25 and junior/senior races medaled to 20). Freshman Johnathan Wilson finished in 8th place in the 2-mile run with a time of 12:28.60. Sophomore Jacob Wilson finished in 14th place in the 2-mile with a time of 12:40.99. Senior Chris Dietrich finished in 18th place in the 2-mile with a time of 13:00.44. Sophomore Leiannah Landreth finished in 25th place with a time of 15:28.96.
The middle school team finished the day with 4 medalists as well (all MMS races medaled to 25) with Hankins finishing in first place in the 8th grade 2-mile run. 7th grader Wyatt Ryherd finished in 7th place in the 1-mile run with a time of 6:24.62. Kaitlyn Paul (7th) finished in 17th place in the 1-mile run with a time of 7:28.04 and Peyton Bartel (7th) finished in 23rd place in the 1-mile run with a time of 7:43:07.
