The men's basketball team closed out their season with a tough sub-state matchup against the Andale Indians.

The men's basketball team wrapped up their 2021-22 season last week as they faced Andale for the second time in a row, this time in the sub-state playoff game. The Cats fell 28-46 to close out the season. The Cats finished the season with a 6-14 record and 2-8 in AVCTL D4 league play, finishing in 5th place in league above Wellington.

"This group of players from top to bottom was very rewarding to coach," said Coach Abasolo. "Having a group that never gave us a headache off the court and they gave us everything they could on the court is a coach’s dream."  "These guys competed every single night and always put themselves in a position to win no matter what because they just liked to compete."



The Wildcats were led this season by senior Ian Comer who finished with 310 points, averaging 16.3 points per game, and 47.3 field goal percentage. Ian also led the team in rebounds with 175 (109 defensive & 66 offensive) and 9.2 average per game. Comer also led the Cats in assists this season with 36. Ian also finished his career with 722 points and 446 rebounds. Comer is the 3rd all-time rebounder in Mulvane history behind Lonny Travis (459) and Trey Abasolo (462). Ian is the 7th all-time scorer in school history in between Darrin Erbert (787) and Ty Redington (721).

Sophomore Kaiden Abasolo was the Wildcats second leading scorer this season with 252 points, averaging 13.3 points per game and the Cats second leading rebounder with 119 rebounds (6.3 per game). Abasolo led the team in steals as well this season with 31. Kaiden currently has 376 points and 170 rebounds in his career. Abasolo's game high this season was 31 points against El Dorado.

Senior Landon Coe finished the season with 185 points, averaging 10.3 points per game and finished with 88 rebounds, 27 assists, and 22 steals. Landon finished his career (2-years) with 368 points and 175 rebounds. Landon's game high this season was 28 points against Wellington in the first game of the year.

Senior Mason Ellis finished this season with 117 points, averaging 8.4 points per game and finished with 69 rebounds, 31 assists, and 14 steals. Mason finished out his high school career with 456 points and 194 rebounds. Mason's game high this season was 20 points against Rose Hill on the road.

Sophomore Aiden McKee finished this season with 73 points, averaging 3.8 points per game and finished with 45 rebounds. Aiden is the only Wildcat this year to lose any teeth during a game, and could always be seen diving for balls on the ground, providing a lot of energy for the Cats. McKee's high game this year was 12 points against Rose Hill.

Senior Tyson Lazier finished the season with 18 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists, and 8 steals.

The JV team finished the season with a 3-13 record with wins over Clearwater, Winfield, and El Dorado and the C-Team finished the season with a 0-13 record.

The Wildcat seniors this year were #2 Landon Coe, #4 Mason Ellis, #12 Tyson Lazier, #15 Ian comer, and #21 Tucker Garrison.
