The 8th grade team closed out their 2021-22 season with 2nd place in the Patriot League tournament.

The 8th grade boys basketball team closed out their season this week in the Patriot League tournament. The Cats went into the tournament as the number 2 seed and received a bye in the first round. Their first game was against Haysville West on Saturday, February 26th and it was a hard fought game between both teams but the Wildcats came out on top 35-29 to advance to the championthip game. Reed Hackleman led the Wildcats with 13 points in the game and Parker Clubb broke into double digits with 11 points.

The championship game was between the Wildcats and the #1 seed Prairie Hills Crusaders. The Crusaders gave the Wildcats fits earlier in the season but they were relatively close games. The Cats had the hot hand in the first quarter and were up by 1 point but the Crusaders got the lead back and went into halftime up by 1 point. The Cats went on a tear in the third quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 21-9 and went into the fourth quarter up 41-30. The Crusaders got the hot hand in the 4th and the game came down to just a few buckets as the Cats lost a close one 48-52. Manny Myers led the Cats with 16 points in the game and Reed Hackleman and Parker Clubb both had an excellent game with 15 points each. 

"Not the way we wanted it to end but I couldn't be more proud of these young men," said Coach Beikman. "They worked hard all season and we saw improvement in all of them. I would take them to battle on the court against anyone. It was an honor to coach them."

The 8A team finished the season with a 10-5 record and 7-3 in league play and took 2nd place in the post season league tournament. The Wildcats were led by Parker Clubb who finished the season with 173 points and the Cats had three other players score triple digits. Manny Myers finished with 153 points, Reed Hackleman with 118 points, and Dominic Baxter with 105 points. Clubb and Myers led the team in rebounds with 66 and 53 boards respectively. Hackleman was not far behind with 48 boards. The Cats finished the season with 669 points to their opponents 428 points and finished with 278 team rebounds.

The 8B team finished the season with a 10-2 record and 7-2 in league play. The Cats were led by Aaron Heird who finished with 71 points and Jaxson Dillon and Jonathan Wilson were not far behind with 65 points each. Heird also led the Cats with 66 rebounds, Dillon finished with 47 rebounds, and Rocky Heersche finished with 40 rebounds. The Wildcats finished this season with 424 points to their opponents 246 points and finished with 263 rebounds as a team.
