The 7th grade boys basketball bring home the league championship to top off perfect season.

The Mulvane 7th grade boys basketball team finished up their season on Monday in fine fashion by taking the Patriot League tournament championship home by defeating Haysville West on Saturday and a tough Prairie Hills team on Monday.

The Cats started the tournament on Saturday with a #1 seed bye and then faced Haysville West for their first game. The boys jumped out ahead in the first quarter with a 14-10 lead and had a great second quarter, going into halftime up 31-19.  The Gorillas took back a few points in the third but the Cats finished the game out with a strong 4th quarter for the 53-29 win. Hays Ensley led the Cats with 17 points in the game and Hudson Myers and Braylon Barnes both hit double digits with 11 points each.

The Cats faced Prairie Hills on Monday for the league tournament championship, trying to keep their perfect record for the season. The Cats jumped out ahead 11-6 in the first quarter and went into halftime with just a small cushion up 16-13. Mulvane increased their lead by another 3 points in the third quarter, which would be crucial because the Crusaders outscored the Cats by 4 in the fourth, but the Cats held on for the 31-29 win and grabbed the league tournament championship. Hays Ensley led the boys with 14 points in the game.

The 7A team finished the season with a perfect 15-0 record and 10-0 in league play, and 2-0 in the league tournament. The Cats were led by Hays Ensley who finished with 198 points and Braylon Barnes scored in triple digits with 126 points. Jack Entwisle and Hudson Myers almost broke the 100 point mark with 95 and 94 points respectively. Barnes and Ensley led the Cats in rebounds with 109 and 105 boards. The Cats finished the season with 647 points to their 375 opponents points and 447 rebounds.

The 7B team finished the season with with a 10-2 record and 7-2 in league play. The Cats were led by Drew Miller who finished the season with 69 points and Brody Clasen, Paxton Richardson, Adrian Brewer, and Ethan Hankins all scored over 40 points. Brewer led the Cats on the boards with 88 rebounds and Cooper Brown grabbed 65 rebounds on the season. The Cats finished the season with 414 points to their opponents 179 points and finished with 453 rebounds.
