The Mulvane Middle School boys basketball teams participated in the mid-season shootout this past Saturday, February 5th to get a few games in against non-league opponents. The 8th-grade boys hosted the shootout and faced El Dorado and Haysville and the 7th-grade teams traveled to El Dorado to face the same teams. The Cats played 8 games between the two grades and the A & B teams, and the Cats went 8-0 on the day.
The 8A team had no trouble against Haysville as they won the game 58-25. The Cats had a huge 2nd quarter and coasted in the second half for the win. Parker Clubb led the boys with 19 points on the evening and Dominic Baxter dropped in 17 points as well.

The 8B team also had no trouble against Haysville as they won the game 41-9. The Cats defense was rock solid and even blanked Haysville in the third quarter. Rocky Heersche and Qin Wilt led the Wildcats with 10 points each on the evening.

The 8A team next faced El Dorado and had no issues with the Wildcats as they won 63-17. The Mulvane Cats had three quarters scoring over 18 points and were led by Dominic Baxter who finished with 18 points in the game. Parker Clubb and Manny Myers both broke into double digits as well with 13 and 10 points respectively.

The 8B team also had no trouble against El Dorado as they won the game 45-15. The Cats defense held El Dorado to just 2 points in the second quarter and zero points in the 4th. Aaron Heird led the boys with 13 points in the game.

The 7A team had no trouble against El Dorado as they won the game 37-7. The Cats defense held El Dorado to just 1 point in the first half. Hays Ensley led the Cats with 13 points in the game.

The 7A team was on fire in the first half against Haysville and dropped in 44 points on their way to the 64-23 win. Hays Ensley led the boys with 20 points in the game and Brody Clasen dropped in 11 points as well.

The 8A boys are sitting at 4-3 on the year and 2-2 in league play. The 8B boys are sitting at 6-1 on the year and 3-1 in league play. The 7A and 7B boys are both sitting at 7-0 on the year and 4-0 in league play. The Wildcats will hit the courts again on Monday, February 7th against Rose Hill at home starting at 5:00 PM.
