The MMS boys basketball teams had a week away, 8A boys get first win. 7th remain undefeated.

It was an away week for the Mulvane Middle School boys basketball teams as they traveled to Haysville West on Monday, January 24th, and Wellington on Thursday, January 27th. The 7th-grade boy's A & B teams remain undefeated after 4 games and the 8th-grade boys went 3-1 last week. The 8A team is sitting at 1-3 and the 8B team is 3-1.

The 8A boys had another very close game at Wellington that came down to the wire, but the Cats fell 27-30. The cats went into the 4th quarter up by 1 point, but the Wellington defense was able to hold them to just 3 points to their 7. Dominic Baxter led the boys with 12 points in the game.

A tough second quarter had the boys down 7-10 at halftime but the Cats rebounded in the second half, outscoring Wellington 16-5 and got the 23-15 win. Jaxson Dillon led the boys with 9 points on the evening.

The 7A team found themselves down 12-16 at halftime but a strong third quarter allowed them to coast to the 36-28 win. Hays Ensley led the Cats with 15 points in the game. Jack Entwisle broke into double digits as well with 13 points.

The 7B team had no trouble with the Crusaders as they won 38-15. Many Wildcats got into the scoring and Dylan LaRue led the Cats with 7 points on the evening.

The 8A team grabbed their first win of the season on Monday against Haysville West. The Cats jumped to an 8 point lead in the first and went into halftime up 21-11. The Cats had a strong 17-6 4th quarter and won 48-27. Manny Myers led the boys with 16 points on the evening and Parker Clubb broke into double digits with 13 points.

The 8B teams were very close in the first half and the Cats had a 12-11 lead. A strong 12-2 third quarter for the Wildcats allowed them to coast to the 34-27 win. Caleb Boor led the Wildcats with 8 points in the game.

The 7A team had a strong 2nd quarter and went into halftime up 24-15. The Cats came out on fire in the 3rd quarter scoring 24 points and finished with a 51-30 win. Hays Ensley led the Cats with 17 points on the evening and Braylon Barnes broke into double digits with 13 points.
