The Mulvane Middle School boys basketball opened their 2021-22 season last week as they hosted the Ark City Bulldogs and Prairie Hills Crusaders. The 7th-grade boys started the season hot as they are undefeated so far between the A and B teams. The 8th-grade boys went 1-3 in their opening week but were very competitive in each game.
The 7A team took care of business as they kept Ark City at bay all game long. The Wildcats jumped out ahead in the first quarter with a 19-7 lead. The Cats lost the second quarter but were ahead at halftime 28-20. The Cats won the third quarter and went into the fourth up 35-25. The boys outscored Ark City in the fourth quarter and finished with a 52-34 win. Hays Ensley led the Wildcats with 17 points on the evening.

The 7B team had no trouble against Ark City as they won the game 41-11. The Cats jumped out ahead in the first half with a 22-4 lead at halftime. Ark City was not able to hang with the Wildcats in the second half and the Wildcats got the 41-11 win. Adrian Brewer led the Cats with 10 points on the evening.

It was a nail-biter of a game as the 8A team faced Ark City but the boys fell 38-44. The Cats jumped out ahead in the first half with a 22-17 lead at halftime. Ark City held the Wildcats at bay in the second half and the Wildcats fell 38-44. Manny Myers led the Cats with 14 points in the game.

The 7A team fell behind in the first half against Prairie Hills and went into halftime down 12-18, but the Cats bounced back in the second half, outscoring the Crusaders 19-7 and got the 31-25 win. Jack Entwisle led the Wildcats with 10 points on the evening.
