The Mulvane wrestling team celebrated senior night this past Thursday, January 13th as they hosted Clearwater in a dual. The Cats were missing several varsity wrestlers but the underclassmen stepped up and the Cats edged out the Indians 43-36 in an exciting finish that ended with a pin from senior Hunter Dietrich. Senior Trent Moses started the dual with a win by fall in the 145 weight class and Andrew Huynh (170), Kelton Boster (220), Austin Vanderhoof (285), and Cameron Hagerman (126) also won their matches by fall. Koehn Dietrich (106) won his match by major decision and Gaelin Mason-Schmidt won his match by decision.

The Seniors this year are Kelton Boster, Mason Cooper, Hunter Dietrich, Trent Moses, and Jackson Shields.

The Wildcats traveled to Clearwater for a boys and girls tournament on Saturday, January 15th and the girls came home with a 2nd place finish with 65 points, their highest tournament finish of the program. Freshman Leiannah Landreth pinned every one of her opponents in the first round and brought home the gold. Loren Gonzalez took 2nd place in her weight class, Jericka Stiles brought home 3rd place, and Larissa Gonzalez brought home 4th place.

The men's team brought home 5th place and Trent Moses took the gold in the 145 weight class, Hunter Dietrich took 2nd place in the 138 class, Andy Huynh took 2nd place in the 170 class, and Austin Vanderhoof took 3rd place in the 220 class.
