MHS - Men's Basketball / January 10, 2022 By Kasey McDowell
The men's basketball team made the trip down to Wellington for the second time this season to open up their season again after the winter break. The Cats had an exciting win over the Crusaders in the season opener with a last-second 3-pointer by senior Mason Ellis, but that magic was not needed this time around as the Cats took care of business with a 53-45 win.
Mulvane took an early lead and won the first two quarters and had a 24-15 halftime lead. The Crusaders were able to get 4 points back in the third quarter and tried to make a run in the fourth, but the Cats were able to hold them at bay and sophomore Kaiden Abasolo hit 8 free throws in a row late in the game to clinch the Wildcats win. Kaiden Abasolo led the Cats with 18 points on the evening and Ian Comer and Landon Coe both broke into double digits with 17 points and 13 points respectively. Comer led the Cats in rebounds with 11 boards.
