The Mulvane girls wrestling team kicked off their 2021-22 season at Valley Center and came away with 5th place out of 20 teams (several were larger 5A and 6A schools). The Cats had one 1st place finish, one  2nd place finish, and one 3rd place finish. Freshman Leiannah Landreth got the gold in the 109 lb weight class with 4 wins by fall in the tournament. Sophomore Kasey Dillon got the silver in the 126 lb weight class with 2 wins by fall and one loss by fall. Junior Kammie Schanz grabbed the bronze in the 143 lb weight class with 4 wins by fall and 1 loss by fall.

"The girls wrestled well overall," said Coach Myers. "They did a great job of incorporating things we’ve recently focused on in practice. They supported each other all day.  We also came away with some specifics we need to tweak before the next outing."
