The Mulvane Middle School volleyball teams closed out their 2021 season last Saturday at the Patriot League tournament. The 8th-grade girls started the tournament with a win over Rose Hill 2-0 (25-13 and 25-19) and fell to Prairie Hills 0-2 (20-25 and 21-25) in pool play. In the bracket play, the Wildcats had some exciting games against Clearwater and Wellington. The Cats took Clearwater to three games and won 2-1 (20-25, 25-23, and 15-10). In the championship game against Wellington, the Cats once again went to three games but fell 1-2 in very close games (16-25, 26-24, and 12-15) for 2nd place in the tournament.
Kylie Schwanke led the team in service points in the tournament with 54 followed by Teagan Heershe with 36, Charli Richardson with 35, Jacyndah Jennings with 34, Kinley Kendrick with 23, Jaysa Holman with 22, and Morgan Clark with 1.
The 8A team finished the 2021 season with an 11-7 record and 5-5 in league play and 2nd place in the Patriot League Tournament. The 8B team finished the season with an 11-3 record and 7-3 in league play.

The 7th-grade girls started the tournament with a win over Prairie Hills 2-1 (22-25, 25-17, and 15-13) and a loss to Haysville West 0-2 (19-25 and 12-25). In the bracket play, the Cats lost the first game to Wellington 0-2 (22-25 and 12-25). Rachael Langholz led the team in service points with 25 followed by Rhyan Parsons and Maci Pfannenstiel both with 24, Ryanne Kirkpatrick and Thai Heersche both with 19, and Layla Meier with 16.
The 7A team finished the season with a 5-12 record and 1-9 in league play. The 7B team finished the season with a 3-11 record and 2-8 in league play.
