The volleyball teams had a busy week with make up games and tournaments this past week.

It was a busy week for the Mulvane volleyball teams. The Varsity girls volleyball team made the short trip to Belle Plaine on Saturday, October 2nd for the Belle Plaine Invitational. The Cats played in 4 matches and went 1-3 on the day. The girls grabbed a win over South Barber and fell to Belle Plaine (18-25 , 21-25), Attica (17-25 , 21-25), and Moundridge (best of 5: 25-18 , 21-25 , 27-29 , 21-25). Senior Legend Bell led the Cats in Kills on the day with 27 and Karlie Kanaga finished with 22 kills on the day. Emily Schmidt, Addison Whisler, and Hailey Garnica all led the Cats in aces with 9, 8, and 7 respectively. Kanaga led the team in assists on the day with 49 and Garnica finished with 33 assists. Tatum Heersche finished with 42 digs on the day to lead the Cats. Jalin Lavers finished with 33 digs and Kanaga finished with 29 digs.

The varsity girls are sitting at 4-18 on the season (0-6 in league play).

The JV girls traveled to Rose Hill on Saturday and went 2-3 on the day with wins over Douglass and Rose Hill and losses to Andover, Andale, and Garden Plain. The JV team is sitting at 8-14 on the season.

The Varsity and JV teams hosted the Andale Indians and Collegiate Spartans on Thursday, September 30th in a makeup date from earlier in the season. The girls played competitive games but fell to Andale 16-25 and 23-25 and to Collegiate 16-25 and 17-25. Karlie Kanaga led the team in kills on the evening with 12 and Makenna Reekie finished with 9 kills. Tatum Heersche led the team in digs with 19. Kanaga and Hailey Garnica led the team in assists with 17 and 12 respectively.

The JV team finished the evening going 1-1 with a win over Collegiate 25-12 and 25-13 and a loss to Andale 13-25 and 20-25.

The Mulvane varsity and JV volleyball teams traveled to El Dorado on Tuesday, September 28th for a triangular with El Dorado and Collegiate. The varsity girls went 0-2 on the evening, going to 3 games with El Dorado but falling 9-25, 25-16, and 9-25 and falling to Collegiate 16-25 and 15-25. The JV girls split on the evening with a win over Collegiate but falling to El Dorado.

The varsity and JV girls will be back in action tomorrow, October 5th at home starting at 5:00 PM and will face El Dorado and Winfield. The C-Team girls will be back on the court this Thursday, October 7th at home against Augusta and McPherson starting at 5:00 PM.
