Lots of excitement surrounding the MMS track team the last couple of meets. The team finished up their 2020-21 season at the Patriot League Meet on Tuesday, May 11th at Prairie Hills. The Cats came home with 7 first-place medals and Patriot League champs. As a team, the 7th-grade boys grabbed 2nd place with 113 points, 8th-grade boys 4th place with 66 points, 7th-grade girls 6th place with 21 points, and 8th-grade girls 6th place with 1 point.
Hunter Landis took home the gold in the 7th-grade boys 100 and 200-meter dashes with times of 12.84 and 25.85. Kaden Palmer grabbed the gold in the 8th-grade boys 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.76. Johnathan Wilson took the gold in the 7th-grade boys 800 meters run with a time of 2:32.72. The 7th-grade boys relay teams once again were top notch as they have been all season. The 4x100 meter relay team of Lane Rogers, KJ Schanz, Kurtis Caruthers, and Hunter Landis got the gold with a time of 53.73. The 4x200 meter relay team of Hunter Heckart, Lane Rogers, Kurtis Caruthers, and Hunter Landis also took home the gold with a time of 1:50.33. Jaryn Baker took home the gold medal in the 7th-grade girls discus with a throw of 73 feet 9 inches.

The MMS 7th grade track teams participated in the Haysville West Invitational on Tuesday, May 4th. The 7th-grade boys brought home the gold as a team with 105 points and the girls finished in 8th place with 14 points.
7th grader Hunter Landis dropped in a new school record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.10 and also brought home the gold in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.40. Dominic Liberto finished in 1st place in the 7th boys 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.99. The 7th-grade boys 4x200 meter relay team of Hunter Heckart, Lane Rogers, Kurtis Caruthers, and Hunter Landis grabbed the gold with a time of 1:50.35.
