The Mulvane Middle School track team opened up their season at the Winfield Invitational on Thursday, April 8th, and came home with 13 gold medals in individual and relay events. The 7th girls finished in 3rd place as a team with 47 points and the 8th girls finished in 4th place as a team with 25 points. The 7th boys finished in 1st place as a team with 72 points and the 8th boys finished in 3rd place as a team with 46.5 points. There were15 events scored in the team scores.
The Cats had 13 first-place finishes in the meet, Jacob Wilson finished 1st in the 8th boys 800 meter and 3200 meter runs with times of 2:31.07 and 12:21.13 respectively. Johnathan Wilson finished in 1st place in the 7th boys 1600 meter run with a time of 5:36.30. Lexi Cunningham grabbed first in the 8th girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.96. Jackson Walker finished first in the 7th boys 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.99.
The relay teams had 4 first-place finishes in the meet. The 7th boys 4x200 meter relay (Jackson Walker, Lane Rogers, Kurtis Caruthers, Hunter Landis) with a time of 1:55.35, 7th boys 4x400 meter relay (Kurtis Caruthers, Lane Rogers, Ryland Snyder, Johnathan Wilson) with a time of 4:37.52, and the 8th boys 4x400 meter relay (Kaden Palmer, Carson Trione, Austin Allen, Gaelin Mason-Schmidt) with a time of 4:27.98, and the 8th boys 1600 sprint medley (Creighton Mason-Schmidt, Austin Allen, Kaden Palmer, Gaelin Mason-Schmidt) with a time of 4:43.14.
In the field events, Peyton Siebel finished in first in the 7th girls long jump with a jump of 13 feet 9 inches. Jaryn Baker finished in first place in the 7th girls discus and shot put throws with tosses of 65 feet 1 inch and 27 feet 4.25 inches respectively. Creighton Mason-Schmidt grabbed first place in the 8th boys discus with a throw of 91 feet 5 inches.
