The Mulvane men’s wrestling send four to state and return with four medalists.

The Mulvane Wrestling team sent four wrestlers to state last Saturday. Chadwick Stahl (Sr.), Trent Moses (Jr.), Chris Dietrich (So.), and Hunter Scott (Sr.). The Wildcats finished the state tournament with 38 points as a team which put them in 11th place and all four of the wrestlers placed in their respective weight classes.

Chadwick Stahl wrestled in the 132 lb weight bracket and won by decision over Noah Bailey (Tonganoxie) 6-4 in his first match. In his second match, Stahl won by fall over Cade Holtzen (Louisburg) in just 1:18 in the match. This put Chadwick in the championship match where he would face Coby Burchett (Fort Scott). Stahl took a nice lead in the first period, scoring 6 points to Burchett's 1 point. Chadwick scored 2 more points in the second period but Burchett was able to grab 4 points himself. This put the match at 8-5 in Chadwick's favor. With a reversal, 3 Nearfall, and a takedown, Burchett was able to take the lead 12-10 over Chadwick. Stahl fought hard and finished in 2nd place in the 132 bracket.

Trent Moses wrestled in the 138 lb weight bracket and lost his first match by decision. In the consolation round, he won by fall over Jet Holder (Fort Scott) at the 1:56 mark. Trent lost by major decision in the consolation-semi round and then won by major decision in the 5th-6th place match, earning him a 5th place medal.

Chris Dietrich wrestled in the 160 lb weight bracket and lost his first match by decision. In the consolation round, he won by sudden victory (overtime) over Carson Gleghorn (Paola). Chris lost by major decision in the consolation-semi round and then lost by decision in the 5th-6th place match, earning him a 6th place medal.

Hunter Scott wrestled in the 285 lb weight bracket and won his first match by fall over Hayden Robb (Perry-Lecompton) at the 4:38 mark. In the semifinal round, he lost by fall. In the consolation-semi round, Hunter lost by a tie breaker after 3 overtimes and then lost by fall in the 5th-6th place match, earning him a 6th place medal.
