The Mulvane men's basketball team defeat Andale and Clearwater Indians to improve to 8-0.

The Mulvane men's basketball teams traveled north to Andale on Friday, January 15th for an AVCTL D4 league matchup against the always tough Indians. The Wildcats last won against the Indians in the 2009-10 season with a 44-39 win lead by Gus Strunk. The Wildcats, 7-0 going into the game, were looking to extend their undefeated season and the best start since 1958.

The Indians started hot in the first quarter, scoring the first 8 points but the Cats battled and scored 11 to their 15 to close out the first quarter. The Cats won the second quarter 11-9 and went into halftime down 22-24. The second half was a battle and the Wildcats and Indians ended regulation tied 53-53. The Wildcats held the Indians in check in overtime, holding them to zero points and took home the 60-53 win.

Trey Abasolo (Sr.) led the Wildcats with another stellar game with 31 points and 7 rebounds. Ian Comer (Jr.) had another strong game and a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Landon Coe (Jr.) finished with 6 points and 6 rebounds. Kaiden Abasolo (Fr.) finished with 6 points and 3 rebounds. Mason Ellis (Jr.) finished with 5 points and 1 rebound.

The Wildcats are sitting at 8-0 and currently ranked #2 in the state in 4A. Senior Trey Abasolo also passed former Wildcat legend Jerry Webster's career point total (1218 points - 1952-56) as Trey currently is sitting at 1232 points in his career. Trey is second in all-time scoring behind former Mulvane great Drew Ellis (1382 points - 2015-19).

The JV boys had trouble breaking through the Indian's defense and fell 23-62. Kaiden Abasolo (Fr.) led the Wildcats with 10 points. The JV boys are sitting at 5-3 on the season.

The C-Team boys fought hard but fell 41-54 to the Indians for their first loss of the season. Shannon Fuller (Fr.) had a stellar game with 24 points. The C-Team boys are sitting at 4-1 on the season.

The Wildcats made the short trip to Clearwater last Tuesday, January 12th for a league matchup against the Indians. The Wildcats fell behind in the first quarter 8-13 but bounced back with a 17 point second quarter to go into halftime up 25-23. The Cats kept the Indians at bay in the second half and brought home a 59-49 win. Landon Coe (Jr.) was on fire behind the arc and led the Cats with 24 points. Ian Comer (Jr.) led the Cats on the boards with 9 rebounds.

The JV boys had a close and hard-fought game against the Indians that went into overtime. The Indians outscored the Cats by 6 points in overtime and the Cats fell 46-52. Sam Westfall (Jr.) led the Wildcats with 10 points.

The C-Team boys took care of business in the second quarter, outscoring the Indians 19-5 and going into halftime up 33-17. They kept the Indians at bay and held on for the 47-35 win. Shannon Fuller (Fr.) led the Cats with 14 points on the evening.

The Wildcats will participate in the Roadrunner Classic this week in Chaparral with their first game against Lyndon will be on Tuesday, January 19th at 5:30 PM at Lyndon and game 2 will be against Circle on Friday, January 22nd at 4:00 PM.
