MHS - Volleyball / September 28, 2020 By Kasey McDowell
The varsity volleyball team travelled to Douglass on Saturday, September 26th for the Douglass Tournament. The girls faced the Douglass Bulldogs in their first match and fell in 2 games (19-25 and 18-25). The Cats bounced back and defeated Bluestem in 3 games (17-25, 25-21, and 25-12). The girls topped off the day with a win over El Dorado in 2 games (25-13 and 25-22). 
Sophomores Emily Schmidt and Karlie Kanaga led the Cats in kills on the day with 24 and 15 respectively. Senior Haley Chambers finished with 26 assists and Karlie had 22 assists. Schmidt had 9 aces on the day, sophomore Landry Sanders finished with 4 aces, Chambers with 3 aces, and sophomore Jadyn Stevenson with 2 aces. Schmidt and Kanaga finished with 16 and 12 digs, Stevenson with 10 digs, sophomore Tatum Heersche finished with 10 digs, and Landry Sanders finished with 9 digs.
The girls travelled to Rose Hill last Tuesday, September 22nd for a triangular with Rose Hill and Clearwater. The Cats fell to Rose Hill 0-2 (14-25 and 21-25) and they lost a couple of marathon games against Clearwater 25-27 and 30-32. The JV girls had a great night at Rose Hill and swept the Rockets and Indians. 
The Cats took down the Indians in 3 games (17-25, 25-17, and 16-14). They defeated the Rockets in 2 games (25-23 and 25-22).
The JV girls travelled to Andover on Saturday, September 19th and went 0-3 on the day versus Andover (10-25 and 20-25), Derby (23-25 and 22-25), and El Dorado (12-25 and 27-29).
The varsity girls are currently sitting at 6-11 on the season (0-6 in league play) and the JV girls are sitting at 4-10 on the season.
