The Mulvane men's basketball team had a great season, flipping their record from last year to a 14-7 record.

The Mulvane High School men's basketball team closed out their season last week as they hosted the Wellington Crusaders for game 1 of sub-state. It was quite the shootout as the Wildcats went into halftime down 15-21. The Wildcats gained a couple points back with a 14-12 third quarter and the Cats won the fourth quarter as well, but fell just short with a final score of 42-44. Aiden McKee led the boys with 11 points on the evening and also led the Cats on the boards with 5 rebounds. Manny Myers broke into double digits with 10 points.

The varsity boys finished their season with a 14-7 record and 6-4 in AVCTL D3 league play. The JV boys finished their season with a 12-5 record, and the Fr/So boys finished their season with an 11-5 record. The Cats had some great wins this year and most of their losses were to highly-ranked teams, they finished in 2nd place in the Roadrunner Classic, and 2nd place (but undefeated) in the Circle Thunderbird Classic.

The Wildcats were led by senior Aiden McKee who finished with 291 points on the season with 60 2-pointers made, 33 3-pointers, and 72 free throws made. McKee climbed into the top 13 all-time scorers with 681 total career points. Aiden also led the team in assists with 80, steals with 52, and blocks with 21. Senior Kaiden Abasolo finished with 250 points and led the team in 3-pointers made with 37. Abasolo finished with 71 rebounds, 41 assists, and 16 steals. Kaiden also climbed the all-time scoring list and is at number 6 all-time with 894 career points. Kaiden is also at number 6 all-time on the boards with 346 career rebounds.

Sophomore Manny Myers finished the season with 229 points, team-leading 110 rebounds, 31 assists, and 21 steals. Senior Shannon Fuller finished the season with 156 points, 45 rebounds, 58 assists, and 43 steals. Senior Gavin Wayman finished the season with 112 points, 50 rebounds, 17 assists, 10 steals, and a team-high 10 charges taken. Junior Cooper Slayton finished the season with 68 points, 42 rebounds, 17 assists, and 7 steals. Sophomore Canon Lazier finished with 28 points, 33 rebounds, 14 assists, and 6 steals.

The Wildcats will graduate four seniors this year, Aiden McKee, Kaiden Abasolo, Gavin Wayman, and Shannon Fuller. A solid group of great players who will be missed next year. Kaiden Abasolo will be continuing his basketball career next year at Southwestern College.
