MHS - Men's Basketball / February 24, 2024 By Kasey McDowell
The Mulvane men's basketball team closed out their regular season this past week with games against Buhler and McPherson. The Cats hosted Buhler on Tuesday and the Wildcats had another close game with the Crusaders, but the Cats came out on top 49-46. Aiden McKee led the boys with 13 points on the evening and Shannon Fuller finished with 10 points. Manny Myers led the Cats on the boards with 6 rebounds.
The JV team also had a shootout with Buhler as they were neck and neck for most of the ballgame, but the Cats came out on top 40-37. Cooper Slayton led the Cats with 13 points in the game and Hays Ensley broke into double digits with 12 points. The Fr/So team also had a very tight game but the Cats fell on a last-second shot 51-52. Hudson Myers led the Cats with 11 points in the game and Grady Myers scored in double digits as well with 10 points.

The Cats made the long trip to McPherson on Thursday for their final regular season game against the very tough Bullpups. The Wildcats fell behind in the first quarter 8-28 and the Cats could not make up points as they fell 46-79. Manny Myers and Aiden McKee led the boys with 11 points each and Kaiden Abasolo finished with 10 points. Manny Myers led the Cats with 4 rebounds.
The JV had trouble getting points to fall against McPherson as they fell 31-80. No box score or stats were available for this game. The Fr/So team had a great competitive game with McPherson and they came out on top 61-58. The Cats had four players in double digits and Hays Ensley led the Cats with 17 points, Hudson Myers finished with 13 points, Grady Myers with 12 points, and Braylon Barnes with 10 points.

The varsity boys finished the regular season with a 14-6 record and 6-4 in AVCTL D3 league play. The JV boys finished their season with a 12-5 record, and the Fr/So boys finished their season with an 11-5 record.
The varsity boys will host Wellington for game 1 of the sub-state tournament on Wednesday, February 28th at 7:00 PM.
