The MMS boys had some tough games last week against McPherson and Ark City. 8A Boys with wild OT finish against MAC.

The Mulvane Middle School basketball team had some tough games this past week against McPherson and Ark City. The 8A boys had a wild finish against McPherson at home on Thursday that went into overtime. The Bullpups were able to tie the game up in the 4th quarter 30-30 and the game was tied coming down to the last second of overtime, but the Wildcats got fouled and Cole Schwanke put in the winning free throws with no time left on the clock. Parker Kraft had another great game and led the Wildcats with 21 points on the evening and Schwanke finished with 9 points.

The 8B team took care of business as they kept McPherson at bay in the second half and got the 38-28 win. Jaxon Avila led the Cats with 8 points and Parker Slayton and Jaxon Morris both dropped in 7 points each.

The 7A had trouble breaking through the McPherson defense all evening as they fell 31-61. McPherson jumped out ahead of the Cats in the first half as the Cats went into halftime down 15-30. McPherson held the boys at bay in the second half and the boys fell 31-61. Hollis Ensley and Brody Merritt led the Wildcats with 8 points each on the evening.

The 7B team only played two quarters due to a player shortage for McPherson. The Cats made the most of the two quarters and won 18-6. Jaxon Parrott led the Cats with 8 points in the half-game.

The Cats were on the road at Ark City last Monday and the 8A boys jumped out ahead in the first half 24-13 and did not let up the pressure in the second half, winning 47-34. The Wildcats had 3 players score in double digits as Parker Kraft led the boys with 16 points and Kole Schwanke and Fenton Smith both finished with 12 points each.

It was a hard-fought game between both teams as the 8B team faced Ark City and the Wildcats came out on top 39-35. Jaxon Avila and Bryson Canfield led the Cats with 10 points each in the game.

The 7A had a couple of tough quarters against Ark City as they fell 24-49 to the Bulldogs. Bronson Myers led the boys with 9 points in the game and Hollis Ensley finished with 8 points. The 7B boys found themselves down big and made a valiant effort for a comeback in the fourth quarter, but it was just too late as they fell 32-41. Jacob Hooten led the boys with 8 points on the evening and Jaxon Treat finished with 7 points in the game.

The 8A boys are sitting at 4-4 on the season, the 8B boys are at 6-2, the 7A boys are at 4-4, and the 7B boys are at 6-2. The Wildcats will be on the road all this coming week as they travel to Augusta and Prairie Hills.
