The Middle School boys basketball opened their season against Wellington and Rose Hill.

The Mulvane Middle School boys basketball kicked off their 2023-24 season on Tuesday as they hosted the Wellington Crusaders. The 7A boys jumped out ahead in the first half, outscoring the Crusaders 15-4. The Crusaders made a run in the third quarter but the Cats were able to hold on for the 27-23 win. Beckett Frazier led the Cats with 8 points on the evening.

The 7B team jumped out ahead in the first half with a 10-4 lead at halftime. The boys closed out the second half of the game by outscoring Wellington 12-7 and got the win 22-11. Jacob Hooten led the boys with 10 points in the game.

The 8A team, under the direction of new head coach Raymond Lazier, went into halftime down 22-29. The Wildcats lost 7 more points in the third quarter and were unable to make up the points in the fourth, falling 41-53. Parker Kraft was on fire in the first game and finished with 30 points for the Wildcats.

It was a hard-fought game between both teams as the 8B team faced Wellington and the Wildcats came out on top 18-17. Jaxon Morris led the Wildcats with 4 points on the evening.

The Wildcats traveled to Rose Hill on Thursday and the 8A team jumped out ahead 12-9 in the first quarter, but a tough 2nd and 4th quarter for the Cats found them down 29-41 at the final buzzer. Parker Kraft led the Cats with 14 points on the evening.

The 8B team had no trouble against Rose Hill as they won the game 22-12. The boys jumped out ahead in the first half with a 9-6 lead at halftime and had a great defensive effort in the third quarter. Lawrence Hendrix and Colby Billingslea led the boys with 4 points each in the game.

The 7A team fell behind in the first half, going into halftime down by 1 point, however, the Wildcats had a strong second half, outscoring Rose Hill 25-6 and got the 39-21 win. Hollis Ensley led the Wildcats with 17 points on the evening.

The 7B team had a back-and-forth game with the Rockets with each team winning every other quarter, but the Wildcats were able to get the 24-18 win. Jacob Hooten led the boys with 6 points on the evening.
