The Wildcats go 3-0 in the Circle Thunderbird Classic and remain undefeated on the season.

The Mulvane High School men's basketball team participated in the Circle Thunderbird Classic last week and the Cats faced Labette County, Independence, and Parsons in the tournament and the Wildcats went 3-0 in the tournament. The Wildcats started by making the long trip to Labette County on Tuesday and came home with a 54-39 win. A monster second quarter propelled the Cats to a 27-16 halftime lead and the Cats finished strong in the second half for the win. Aiden McKee led the Wildcats with 18 points and Manny Myers dropped in 17 points and also led the Cats on the boards with 7 rebounds.

The JV team fell just short in their game, falling 42-49 to Labette. Dominic Baxter led the boys with 15 points and Canon Lazier broke into double digits with 13 points. Freshman Jack Entwisle had a monster night in the Fr/So game with 25 points as the Cats won 71-64. Hays Ensley also had a great night with 18 points and Braylon Barnes finished with 11 points.

The Wildcats hosted the Independence Bulldogs in game 2 of the tournament on Thursday. The Cats jumped out quickly with a 17-7 point first quarter to set the tone and the Wildcats won each quarter of the game and got the 60-40 win. Manny Myers and Aiden McKee led the Cats with 13 points each and Myers also led the Wildcats on the boards with 7 rebounds. Kaiden Abasolo broke into double digits as well with 12 points.

The JV game was a tale of two halves as the Wildcats won the first half 37-20, but the Bulldogs won the second half 24-16, but the Wildcats were able to hold on for the 53-44 win. Cooper Slayton led the charge with 14 points in the game. The Fr/So game was a nail-biter and the Cats were edged 42-43. Jack Entwisle and Hays Ensley led the Cats with 9 points each in the game.

The Wildcats final game was on Saturday and the Cats faced Parsons at Circle. Senior Shannon Fuller had a career game, dropping in 20 points for the Wildcats as they defeated Parsons 64-56 to go undefeated in the tournament. Aiden McKee had a monster game as well with 18 points and Kaiden Abasolo finished with 12 points. Manny Myers led the Cats on the boards with 6 rebounds.

The JV team had no trouble against Parsons as they won the game 66-45. The first and fourth quarters were pretty even, but the Wildcats won the second and third quarters by a 32-11 margin. Dominic Baxter led the Wildcats with 10 points in the game.

The Wildcats finished in 2nd place in the tournament even though they finished 3-0. The tie-breaker was points allowed, and the Circle team allowed fewer points than the Cats. Senior Kaiden Abasolo was selected to the All-Tournament team and finished the tournament with 30 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Aiden McKee finished the tournament with 49 points and 9 rebounds. Sophomore Manny Myers finished the tournament with 38 points and 20 rebounds. Senior Shannon Fuller finished the tournament with 29 points and 7 rebounds.

The Wildcats will be back in action this evening at Winfield for their first AVCTL D3 league games of the season.
