MHS - Men's Basketball / December 5, 2023 By Kasey McDowell
The Mulvane High School men's basketball team, under the direction of new head coach Keene Hargrove, made their opening debut at Wellington last Friday, December 1st. The varsity team jumped out ahead in the first half, going into halftime up 17-9. The Crusaders made up some points in the third quarter and the Cats only had a 3-point lead. The Wildcats had a monster fourth quarter, outscoring Wellington 22-10, and finished strong for the 45-30 win. Aiden McKee led the boys with 13 points on the evening and Kaiden Abasolo had a great game with 11 points and 9 rebounds. Manny Myers added 7 points and 3 rebounds.
The JV team had a shootout with Wellington as they were neck and neck for most of the ball game but fell just short. The teams went into halftime tied 19-19, but the Cats had a tough 9-18 third quarter and fell 48-53. Dominic Baxter led the boys with 13 points on the evening.
The Fr/So team had no trouble against Wellington as they won the game 50-25. The Cats jumped out ahead quickly and went into halftime up 25-8. The Wildcats kept up the scoring in the second half and got the 50-25 win. Jack Entwisle led the boys with 13 points and Hays Ensley broke into double digits with 11 points.
