The Mulvane track & field team finish with 8 medals in the first track meet of the year.

The Mulvane High School Track & Field team kicked off their 2022-23 season this past Thursday at the Rose Hill Early Bird Invitational and the Cats finished the meet medaling in 8 events. In the women's events, the 4x400 relay team of McKenzie Storment, Elle Everhart, Jaida Gerber, and Reagan Sparks finished in 3rd place with a time of 5:21.51 and junior Hallacy Miller finished in 2nd place in the javelin with a throw of 83 feet 8 inches.

In the men's events, freshman Hunter Landis finished in 3rd place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.73. Sophomore Jacob Wilson grabbed the silver in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:58.67. The 4x100 meter relay team of Hunter Heckard, Jackson Walker, Kurtis Caruthers, and Hunter Landis finished in 2nd place with a time of 49.05. The 4x400 meter relay team of Chris Dietrich, Jacob Wilson, Johnathan Wilson, and Hunter Landis finished in 3rd place with a time of 3:58.82. The 4x800 meter relay team of Jacob Wilson, Johnathan Wilson, Matthew Eggleston, and Chris Dietrich finished in 3rd place with a time of 9:30.08. Junior Gavin Young finished in 2nd place in the javelin with a throw of 132 feet 4 inches.
