It had been 8 years & 7 innings since the Mulvane softball team punched their way to the 4A state tournament held in Salina, but the Wildcats did just that this past Tuesday as they hosted the West Regional #4 with Circle, Chapman, and Clay Center. The Wildcats were the number 4 seed overall but the number 1 seed in the bracket and faced Circle in the first game.
The Wildcats jumped ahead with a quick three runs in the first inning and added one more in the second inning. The defenses clamped down the rest of the game but the Cats held on for the 4-0 win.
Jalin Lavers earned the win for Mulvane. She tossed six innings, giving up zero runs, zero hits, walking three, and nine strikeouts. Peyton Baggett closed out the game in the last inning, giving up zero runs, one hit, zero walks, and one strikeout.
The Cats had 8 hits in the game and Madison Phipps went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Mulvane in hits. Avrie Warner, India Downs, Addison Mackey, Jalin Lavers, and Makaylen Warner all had one hit each in the game for the Wildcats. Phipps also had the only RBIs for the Cats as she knocked in two runners in the game. Lavers had the Cat's only stolen base.

The Cats faced Chapman in the regional championship game after Chapman dispatched Clay Center 4-2. The Wildcats once again jumped ahead with 3 runs in the first inning and followed up with another run in the second inning. The Cats piled on 4 more runs in the fourth and fifth innings and shut out the Fighting Irish for an 8-0 win and regional championship.
Jalin Lavers earned the win for the Cats. She tossed five and 1/3 innings, giving up zero runs, one hit, walking two, and seven strikeouts. Peyton Baggett closed out the game pitching one and 2/3 innings, giving up zero runs, one hit, walking one, and two strikeouts.
The Wildcats finished with 8 hits in the game and Makaylen Warner went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Mulvane Wildcats in hits. Kinley Kendrick, Peyton Baggett, Regan Witt, Addison Mackey, Jaryn Baker, and India Downs had one hit each in the game for the Mulvane Wildcats.
The Wildcats had 7 RBIs in the game and Makaylen Warner and India Downs both had 2 RBIs to lead the Cats. Kinley Kendrick, Addison Mackey, and Jaryn Baker each had one RBI for the Wildcats. Avrie Warner finished with two stolen bases in the game.

The Cats will face Clearwater in the first game of the 4A State tournament on Thursday, May 25th at 7:00 PM at Salina South High School (730 E Magnolia Rd, Salina, KS).
