The girls basketball team improves to 9-9 on the season with two more league wins against Winfield & Augusta.

The Mulvane varsity girl's basketball team improved their record this past week with a couple of league wins against Winfield and Augusta to improve to 9-9 on the season and 5-4 in league play.

The girls hosted the Augusta Orioles this past Friday and the varsity team took a 3-point lead into halftime. The teams were dead even in the second half and the Cats held on to the 30-27 win. Teagan Garrison and Madison Shaw led the Ladycats with 7 points each in the game and Ashlyn Alumbaugh had a great game on the boards with 7 rebounds. 

The JV team had a close matchup with the Orioles behind an 18-point efforty by freshman Kylie Schwanke, the the Cats fell short 36-43. The Fr/So game was a 2-quarter matchup and the Cats fell just short 13-15 with sophomore Kierra Cain leading the charge with 6 points.

The Wildcats traveled to Winfield last Tuesday for a league matchup with the Vikings. The varsity girls jumped out ahead in the first quarter 12-6 and took a 20-15 lead into halftime. The Cats increased the lead in the third quarter and held on for the 43-36 win. Madison Shaw and Lauren Young led the Cats with 11 points each and Ashley Young broke into double digits in rebounds with 11 boards.

The JV team was neck-and-neck with the Vikings for most of the game, but the Cats were able to outscore Winfield by 7 points in the second half and got the 25-22 win. Kierra Cain and Madison Phipps led the Wildcats with 6 points each on the evening.

The Fr/So team had a 2-quarter game that turned into a 3-quarter game (overtime) and the Cats finished with 25-22 win. Kinley Kendrick and Jaryn Baker led the Cats with 4 points each in the game.
