Garrison and Shaw selected to the Thunderbird Classic All-Tournament team. Cats go 1-2 in tourney.

The Mulvane High School girls basketball team had a busy week last week in the Circle Thunderbird Classic. The Cats faced Parsons on Saturday, December 10th, and the Cats were down 10-11 at halftime, but a tough 3rd quarter found the Cats down by 12. The girls had a great 4th quarter but fell just short 27-31. Teagan Garrison led the Wildcats with 8 points in the game and Lauren Young led the cats on the boards with 8 rebounds.

The Wildcats made the long drive to Independence on Thursday, December 8th for game 2 of the tournament. The girls were up 16-14 at halftime, but another tough 3rd quarter for the Cats found them down by 5 going into the 4th quarter. The girls were unable to make up the difference and lost 34-39. Madison Shaw led the Cats with 10 points on the evening and Lauren Young finished with a team high 11 rebounds.

The Wildcats opened up the tournament on Tuesday, December 6th at home, hosting Labette Co. The Cats were in a dog-fight all game and went into halftime up 17-16. The Cats won the 3rd quarter and were able to hold off Labette in the 4th quarter, winning 42-34. Madison Shaw led the Cats with 11 points in the game and Teagan Garrison led the Cats on the boards with 6 rebounds.

The JV girls battled hard versus Parsons all evening and tried to mount a comeback in the 4th, but fell 30-41. Justice Blake had a great game and led the girls with 15 points.

The JV girls had trouble breaking through the Labette Co. defense as they fell 11-43. The points were spread evenly throughout the team as 5 players finished with 2-points each.

Juniors Teagan Garrison and Madison Shaw were selected to the Thunderbird Classic All-Tournament team for this season. Teagan averaged 9.0 points per game and finished with 14 rebounds in the tournament. Madison averaged 8.3 points per game and finished with 8 rebounds in the tournament.
