The 7th and 8th grade girls have mid-season shootout. 7th girls sweep the weekend and the 8th girls fall in 2 games.

The midway point of the Mulvane Middle School girl's basketball season features the mid-season shootout where the girls face a couple of teams outside their Patriot League West Division. The 7th and 8th-grade Cats faced Prairie Hills and Circle on Saturday, November 19th, the 7th graders hosting and the 8th graders traveling to Rose Hill. The Prairie Hills team was going to be the 7th-grade girl's toughest test yet and the 7A girls jumped out quickly with a 16-5 lead in the first half. The Cats had trouble finding the net in the third quarter but finished with a strong 12-1 fourth quarter for the 30-16 win. Brittani Peschel led the Wildcats with 12 points in the game.

The 7A girls next faced the Circle team and with tough defense and a strong transition game, the Cats led 35-6 at halftime. The Cats defense held Circle scoreless in the second half and got the 50-6 win to remain undefeated on the season. Brittani Peschel led the girls with 18 points in the second game and Kaitlyn Paul broke into double digits with 11 points.

The 7B team jumped out quickly in the first half, outscoring Prairie Hills 15-4 going into halftime. The girls kept the pressure on in the second half and finished with the 25-11 win. Addilyn Williams led the girls with 7 points in the game.

The girls once again started strong in game 2 versus circle, jumping out to a 12-8 lead and holding Circle at bay in the second half, winning 22-10 to also remain undefeated on the season. Addilyn Williams and Addyson Clinesmith led the girls with 6 points each on the evening.

The 8A team faced Circle in the first game on Saturday and the Cats fell behind in the first half 3-18. The Cats had a strong 3rd quarter but was unable to catch up, falling 18-34. Braylinn Curtis led the girls with 14 points on the evening.

In game 2, Prairie Hills jumped out ahead of the Cats in the first half as the Cats went into halftime down 7-30. The Prairie Hills defense held the Cats at bay in the second half as well and the Wildcats fell 8-53. Claudia Abbott led the Cats with 4 points in the game.

The girls hosted Wellington last Thursday for a league matchup against the Crusaders. The 7A girls wasted no time and jumped out to a 22-5 lead in the first half and held on for the 38-19 win. Brittani Peschel led the girls with 12 points on the evening and Brae Heckathorn broke into double digits with 10 points.

The 7B team also had a great first half, outscoring the Crusaders 22-8, and were able to coast in the second half for the 33-10 win. Maddy Murray and Jadea Sheppard led the girls with 8 points each on the evening.

The 8A girls faced a very good Wellington team whose defense gave the Cats fits all game. The girls fell 4-63 to the Crusaders. Maci Pfannenstiel led the Cats with 3 points on the evening. There was no B game.

The girls will be back in action on Monday, November 21st as they travel to Rose Hill for a league matchup against the Rockets and then will be on break the rest of the week before facing Ark City in a makeup game on November 28th at home.
