Former Mulvane High School standout bowler and 2017 State Champion Addyson Schiffelbein (2019), currently a senior at Newman University, was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Athlete of the Week in Women's Bowling last week. Addyson is the first ever Athlete of the Week award winner for Women's Bowling in Newman history. Addyson finished in 1st place in the Valpo Bowling Classic with a 1,055 total pin fall. Congrats Addyson!

WICHITA- Newman Women's Bowling Senior Addyson Schiffelbein has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Athlete of the Week in Women's Bowling, the league office announced on Friday.
Schiffelbein was named to the All-Tournament team last weekend after finishing in 1st place in the 109-competitor field in the Valpo Bowling Classic. She recorded a 1,055 total pin fall which averaged to 211 in traditional games. To go along with that, she also registered an 84.9 makable spare percentage and a 90.0 single pin percentage.
Addyson is the first ever Athlete of the Week award winner for Women's Bowling in Newman history. Head Coach of Newman Bowling Billy Murphy had this to say as Schiffelbein became the first Jet to earn AOTW honors, "As coach, it's just fun to see your athletes accomplish things that happen due to the their hard work. I am so excited for Addyson and the program! Addyson made history and that is just pretty cool."
It is pretty cool indeed as this is Newman Women's Bowling first year in the GLVC and as NCAA. The Jets came off an impressive showing last weekend in the Valpo Classic where they finished in 3rd place after going 11-1 and starting the classic 9-0.
Women's Bowling returns to action next week in the Lady Jack Classic on November 11th-13th.
