The MMS girls basketball kicked off their 2022 season last week, go 5-3 on the week, 7th girls sweep the competition.

The Mulvane Middle School girl's basketball teams kicked off their season last week as they traveled to Haysville on Tuesday and hosted Rose Hill on Thursday. The 7A team took care of business last Thursday as they held Rose Hill to zero points. The Wildcat's defense clamped down on the Rockets and went into halftime up 24-0. The girls didn't let down in the second half and finished strong with a 42-0 win. Brae Heckathorn led the Wildcats with 16 points on the evening and Brittani Peschel broke into double digits with 14 points.

The 8A girls were competitive in the first and last quarters of the game, but the Rockets were able to outscore the Cats 26-9 in the second and third quarters and the Cats fell 18-25 in the match. Braylinn Curtis led the girls with 15 of the Wildcat's 18 points in the game.

The 7B team had no trouble against Rose Hill as they won the game 29-6. The Wildcats took the lead during the first half, going into halftime up 19-0. The Wildcats closed out the second half of the game by outscoring Rose Hill 10-6 and got the win 29-6. Maddy Murray led the girls with 12 points on the evening.

It was a nail-biter of a game as the 8B team faced Rose Hill but the Cats came out on top 13-12 in the 2-quarter game. The girls were tied 4-4 after the first quarter and the Cats jumped out to a nice lead in the second quarter and were able to hold off the Rockets for the 1-point win. Braylinn Curtis led the Wildcats with 11 points in the game.

The MMS girls kicked off their season last Tuesday as they traveled to Haysville for a non-league matchup. The 7A team had no trouble against Haysville as they won the game 41-9. The girls took the lead during the first half, going into halftime up 18-2. The Wildcats closed out the second half of the game by outscoring Haysville 23-7 and got the win 41-9. Kaitlyn Paul led the Wildcats with 14 points on the evening.

The 8A girls went into halftime down 4-10 but won the third quarter and were only down 10-14 going into the fourth. Haysville was able to outscore the Cats 10-2 in the fourth and got the 24-12 win. Braylinn Curtis and Claudia Abbott led the Wildcats with 4 points each on the evening.

The 7B team took care of business as they kept Haysville at bay all game long. The Wildcats held Haysville scoreless in the first three quarters, going into the last quarter up 24-0, and topped off the game with a 12-2 fourth quarter for the 36-2 win. Maddy Murray and Addilyn Williams led the girls with 8 points each on the evening.

The 8B girls had trouble getting the shots to fall in the first quarter against the Colts, going into the second quarter down 2-10. The girls bounced back and won the second quarter 9-5 but fell just short with an 11-15 loss in the 2-quarter game. Braylinn Curtis led the Wildcats with 10 points on the evening.
