The Mulvane varsity football team hosted Rose Hill for week 4 for a non-league matchup against the Rockets. The Rockets were first on the board with a field goal and a passing touchdown in the first quarter. The second quarter was a defensive battle and the Cats went into halftime down 0-10.
The Cats defense held the Rockets at bay in the second half, only allowing a 36-yard field goal. The Rockets added to the lead in the fourth quarter with an INT return for a touchdown. The Cats got on the board late in the game with a nice 12-yard TD pass from Lucas Sorensen (Jr.) to Trenton Davis (Sr.).
The Wildcats offense finished the game with 141 total yards on 58 plays with 78 yards rushing and 63 yards passing. Lucas Sorensen finished with 40 yards on 2 completions, and also had 23 yards rushing on 4 attempts and 1 passing TD. Senior Julien Myers led the cats on the ground with 33 yards before leaving the game with an injury. Sophomore Fisher Dye finished with 28 yards on the ground.
The defense had a great game and was led by Kaiden Abasolo (Jr.) who finished with 5.5 tackles (4 solo, 3 assist) and he also had 3.5 tackles for loss. Trenton Davis (Sr.), Noah West (Jr.), and Garrett Olson (Jr.) all finished with 4.5 tackles, Trenton (2-5), Noah (1-7), and Garrett (2-5).

Scoring Plays:
The JV squad had their second game of the year. It was a defensive battle all game long with the Rockets leading the Cats 6-0 until late in the fourth quarter when the Cats scored 14 points with just a few minutes left in the game, shocking the Rockets and getting the 14-6 win. Aiden Heckathorn found Lucas Sorensen for a 17-yard TD pass for the Cats first score, then Heckathorn ran the last TD in from 7 yards in a wild finish.
The Freshman/Sophomore team had their fourth game of the year, but this one was only 2 quarters. That didn't stop the Cats from pouring on some points as they scored 28 points in the first quarter. Manny Myers found the endzone with a 45-yard run, followed by Hunter Landis with a 48-yard run. Myers hooked up with Kurtis Caruthers for a 21-yard TD pass and then found KJ Schanz for a 43-yard TD pass. The Wildcats final score was in the second quarter as Caruthers found the endzone with a 34-yard TD run.
The varsity will be back in action this Friday as they host the Buhler Crusaders for the 2022 Fall Homecoming game, starting at 7:00 PM.
