The Mulvane Middle School football teams traveled to Ark City last Thursday, September 16th for a Patriot League matchup against the Bulldogs. The 7th-grade boys have been improving each week and looking for their first win of the season but fell short 8-24 to the Bulldogs. "We played a pretty good defensive game," said Coach Beikman. "We gave them two long touchdown plays that cost us." The Wildcat's offense was held at bay until the 4th quarter when Keaton Grizzle ran one in for a 10-yard TD run and quarterback Jeter Tatum ran in the 2-point conversion. "These boys continue to work hard each week to get better," said Beikman.

Mulvane scoring:
The 8th-grade boys continued their dominant performance this season and improved their record to 3-0 with a 42-12 rout of the Bulldogs. The first quarter was a defensive battle with a 0-0 score, but the Wildcats opened up their scoring in the second quarter with a 7-yard run by Hays Ensley. Grady Myers added to the Cat's score with a 25-yard interception return for a touchdown. The third quarter was a monster quarter for the Cats with 11-yard TD pass from Myers to Hargrove, a 48-yard TD run by Ensley, and a 10-yard TD run by Ensley. The Bulldogs added a couple of scores, but the Cats finished the game strong with a 51-yard TD run by Ensley for the 42-12 win. "We played pretty well in the first half and helped ourselves out with a defensive score," said Beikman. "We came out in the second half and played at a higher level than the first half and scored four touchdowns. This team continues to improve each week and their strength is that they play together."
The Wildcats will be away again next Thursday and will be traveling to Rose Hill for a league matchup against the Rockets.
