MHS - Football / September 4, 2022 By Kasey McDowell

The Mulvane Middle School football teams kicked off their 2022-23 season last Thursday, September 1st, with an away game against the Circle Thunderbirds. The 7th graders had the first game of the evening and had a tough battle, but fell 6-14. "The 7th grade worked hard in their first contest but had some costly errors that we could not overcome," said Coach Beikman. "We gave up a fumble recovery for a touchdown which was the difference in the game. Our defense played very well for most of the game but we could not get our offense going.  We will make adjustments based on game one and be a better team next week." Archer Webb had the Wildcat's only touchdown with a 37-yard fumble return.

The 8th graders had no trouble against the Thunderbirds and poured on 32 points in the first half. "This group of 8th graders is a great group of kids," said Coach Beikman. "They work hard, they are great leaders, and play well as a team. They have the potential to have a great season if we can stay healthy as we only have 18 boys out this year." Hays Ensley led the Cats with 4 touchdowns on the day and Grady Myers added a TD for the Cats as well. The Wildcats defense held strong all game, only giving up 1 touchdown.
