The Mulvane softball team is looking to rebound after falling the Clearwater Indians.

The Mulvane softball team had only one doubleheader last week as they faced the league-leading Clearwater Indians at their place in a league matchup. The Wildcats had trouble tallying up runs in both games as they fell 0-6 and 3-8.

In game 1, Jalin Lavers made the start in the pitching circle, facing 29 batters, giving up 6 runs (5 earned) on 9 hits, and striking out 9 batters.

The Cats collected 6 hits in the game. Addison Mackey, Regan Witt, India Downs, Jadyn Stevenson, and Madison Phipps each collected hits in the game for the Wildcats. Addison Mackey went 2-for- 3 at the plate to lead the Wildcats in hits.

Mulvane stole 2 bases during the game with India Downs and Jadyn Stevenson both recording stolen bases.

In game 2, the Indians struck first with 2 runs in the first inning. The Cats took the lead with 3 runs in the fourth, but the Indians responded with 6 more runs and held on for the win.

Peyton Baggett pitched for the Cats in game 2, facing 31 batters, giving up 8 runs (2 earned) on 8 hits, and striking out 1. 

The Wildcats had 7 hits in the game. Addison Mackey, Makaylen Warner, Jadyn Stevenson, Regan Witt, Olivia Ellis, and Jalin Lavers each had hits in the game for the Mulvane Wildcats. Addison Mackey went 2-for- 3 at the plate to lead the Cats in hits. Freshman Regan Witt knocked one out of the park for her first varsity home run of her career.

The Wildcats grabbed 3 RBIs in the game with Regan Witt recording all 3 with her home run. Witt also had the Wildcat's only stolen base in the game.

The JV team split with the Indians 6-0 and 3-5 and are currently 9-1 on the season. The varsity is sitting at 6-6 on the season and 1-5 in league play and will be back in action tomorrow against Cheney in a make-up doubleheader from Monday. Games start at 4:00 PM at the sports complex.
