The Mulvane varsity softball team opened up their 2022 season at home in a non-league matchup with the Kingman Eagles. The young Wildcats, who started 2 juniors, 4 sophomores, and 3 freshman, took the first game 8-1 and were up 3-2 in the second game before it was delayed due to lightning.
The girls took the lead in the 3rd inning with 1 run and broke the game open in the 4th, scoring 5 runs in the frame and topping it off in the 6th with 2 more runs.
The Wildcats had 14 hits in game 1. Avrie Warner, Addison Mackey, Regan Witt, Olivia Ellis, Makaylen Warner, Jalin Lavers, India Downs, and Madison Phipps each had hits in the game for the Wildcats. Avrie Warner went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Cats in hits. Jalin Lavers had 1 home run in the game.
The Wildcats collected 7 RBIs in the game. Avrie Warner, Addison Mackey, Olivia Ellis, Jalin Lavers, and Madison Phipps each had RBIs for the Wildcats. Avrie Warner, and Olivia Ellis all had 2 RBIs to lead Mulvane.

The Cats found themselves down 0-2 in the 2nd inning of game 2 until Jalin Lavers hit a triple and Regan Witt and Addison Mackey walked to load the bases. Freshman Olivia Ellis smacked a line drive over left field to clear the bases and landed a double. The game was called after Ellis's hit due to lightning and will be made up on Monday, April 11th at 4:30 PM.
