The Mulvane varsity football team faced the league rival Rose Hill last Friday, blank the Rockets 35-0.

The Mulvane varsity football team was on their home turf last Friday against the AVCTL D4 rival Rose Hill Rockets. The Cats defense started hot on the first play of the game as senior Hunter Seier stripped the ball from the running back and took the fumble recovery into the endzone at the 11:40 mark.  Senior Mason Ellis added on to the Cats score with a 1 yard td run at the 7:20 mark.

The Cats had a great second quarter as well as Ellis found the endzone again with an 8 yard run at the 9:00 minute mark and then a nice 46 yard scamper down the sideline after breaking a tackle for another touchdown at the 3:50 mark. Ellis found Seier just before halftime for a nice 39-yard TD pass as the Wildcats went into halftime up 33-0.

Much of the varsity roster got some rest in the second half and lots of players got some playing time.There were no scores in the 3rd quarter as the defense kept the Rockets in check. The Cats got a late 4th quarter safety after an errant snap from Rose Hill out of the endzone as the Wildcats won 35-0.

The Wildcats offense racked up 334 total yards with 179 passing and 155 rushing. On the ground, Ellis led the charge with 100 yards on 14 attempts and 3 touchdowns. Julien Myers finished with 41 yards on 13 attempts. Ellis finished with 179 yards passing with 12 out of 22 completed and 1 touchdown pass. Seier led the Cats in receiving yards with 131 yards on 8 receptions and 1 TD reception. Ian Comer finished with 36 yards on 2 receptions.

The Wildcats defense had another great performance and held the Rockets to just 63 yards passing and 50 yards rushing for a net total of 113 yards total. The defense was led by Trent Moses and Ian Comer who both finished with 4.5 tackles (2 solo - 5 assist) and Josh Phillips, Trenton Davis, Kaiden Abasolo, and Ethan Irvine all finished with 3.0 tackles each. Josh Phillips finished with 1.0 sacks and Abasolo, Irvine, and Chase Dieker had 0.5 sacks.

The c-team traveled to Rose Hill on Monday and the Wildcats had a close game but fell to the Rockets 12-14.
