The Mulvane Middle School football teams closed out the 2021 season last week by hosting the Prairie Hills Crusaders. The 7th-grade boys had a close, hard-fought game but fell 6-14. The Cats only score came in the first quarter with a nice 89-yard interception return for a touchdown by Hays Ensley. "These boys fought hard against Prairie Hills but just could not get the football into the endzone on offense," said Coach Beikman. "We had a great night on defense with an interception returned for a touchdown. This group faced adversity all season but found ways to improve each game. This is a fun group to coach and I look forward to what they will accomplish in the future."

The 7th-grade team finished the 2021 season with a 4-3 record and 3-2 in Patriot League play.

The Cats found the endzone in the third quarter with a 9-yard run by Kurtis Caruthers. Mulvane scored three more times in the fourth quarter with a 21-yard run by Caruthers, a 34-yard run by Landis, and 60-yard fumble recovery for a TD by Reed Hackleman. "Prairie Hills was a very talented team and obviously deserved the league championship," said Coach Beikman. "Our boys played their hearts out and even though they were down by a large margin at the half, played hard in the second half to finish their season with some momentum by scoring points after half. This is a great group of boys and I look forward to seeing what they do in the future."
