The Mulvane Middle School football teams faced Wellington on Thursday, October 7th, and the teams split with the Crusaders. The 7th-grade team struck first in the first quarter with a 1-yard run by Hays Ensley who is back from injury from earlier in the season. The Cats scored again in the second quarter with a 1-yard run by Grady Myers to take a 14-0 lead into halftime. The Cats scored again in the 4th quarter with a 23-yard run by Hays Ensley to close out the game 20-14. "We got some of our starters back this game from injury which allowed us to play kids in the spots they were meant to play in," said Coach Beikman. "We have been shuffling kids around due to injuries and this team has been resilient and always answering the call. We continue to improve each game but need to learn to be a little more aggressive on the field."

The 7th-grade team is sitting at 4-2 on the season and 3-1 in Patriot League play.

Mulvane had trouble finding the endzone in the second half as they fell 12-42. "We came up against a very aggressive Wellington team and we played with them for the first half," said Coach Beikman.
