Various media outlets have released their All-State softball teams for the 2021 season and Mulvane freshman India Downs earned 4A All-State Honorable Mention from Sports in Kansas (kansas-sports.com). The AVCTL D4 coaches met last month and voted for All-League for the 2021 season and 4 Wildcats were selected for All-League honors.
Along with All-State honors, India Downs (Fr.) earned all-league 1st team for utility. India played several positions throughout the season in the infield and outfield and finished the 2021 season with a .375 batting avg (.409 in league games), 21 hits, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 7 stolen bases, and a .947 fielding average.
Jalen Lavers (So.) earned All-League 2nd team honors as a pitcher. Jalen finished the season with 88.33 innings pitched, 457 batters faced, 7.05 ERA, 77 strikeouts, .886 fielding average, and 3 wins on the season. Jalen also finished the season with a .333 avg at the plate with 18 hits and 12 RBIs.
Emma Kendrick (So.) earned All-League honorable mention for 2nd base and finished the season with a .191 average (.250 in league games) with 9 hits, 1 double, 1 RBI, 9 stolen bases, and a .904 fielding average.
Addison Mackey (Fr.) earned All-League honorable mention for 3rd base and finished the season with a .298 average (.368 in league games) with 17 hits, 1 double, 6 RBIs, 14 stolen bases, and a .952 fielding average.
The young Wildcats finished the season with a 4-17 record and looking to continue to build over the next few years.
