The Mulvane men's golf team participated in the 4A State tournament for the first time, wrap up the 2020-21 season.

It was a historic finish of the 2020-21 men's golf season as the team finished in 3rd place in the regional tournament and qualified as a team for the 4A state tournament for the first time in the team's history. The team traveled to Mariah Hills Golf Course for the 4A State Tournament on Monday, May 24th. The Wildcats finished in 9th place as a team with a 377 team total on the first day round. The Cats were led by Gerald Collier who shot a round of 89 and Kyle Jones who shot a round of 90, both qualifying individually for the second day round.

On the second day, Gerald Collier finished with a round of 88 for a total of 177 and finished in 35th place overall. Kyle Jones finished with a round of 98 for a total of 187 and finished in 46th place overall.

Senior Gerald Collier led the team this season with an average of 92 per round and his best round was an 87. Senior Ian Moore finished with an average of 95 and his best round was an 86. Senior Ryse Tallman finished with an average of 102 and his best round was a 90. Junior Trent Moses finished with an average of 103 and his best round was a 95.

Senior Kyle Jones finished with an average of 105 and his best round was a 90. Senior Chayton Pfannenstiel finished with an average of 114 and his best round was 104. Junior Layne Merchant finished with an average of 121 and his best round was 106. The Wildcats as a team finished with an average of 102 per round.

Ian Moore medaled in 5 tournaments this season, Gerald Collier medaled in 3 tournaments, Rhyse Tallman medaled in 2 tournaments, and Chayton Pfannenstiel and Trent Moses both medaled in 1 tournament.

"Our seniors did a great job improving throughout the season and leading our underclassmen through example," said Coach Headrick. "Oftentimes the seniors would get to practice early, and stay late afterward, always working hard on improving. Their hard work showed throughout the season. We have five Varsity spots to fill next season, so I am looking forward to seeing how our underclassmen step up and fill those spots."
