The Mulvane softball team and coaches have been hitting the practice field hard for the last couple of weeks, anxious to get back into the rhythm of things since their season was canceled last year due to the pandemic. The Wildcats have 23 total girls out this year, 5 seniors, 1 junior, 6 sophomores, and 11 freshmen. The girls will kick off their season on March 26th, 2021 at 4:30 PM as they host Sedgwick in a non-league game at home.
"Very excited to be back into softball, since last year we were canceled after 2 weeks of practice," said Coach Kollmeyer. "We have 5 seniors back, which 4 of them have been in the program since they were freshman. Will be led by the dynamic twins of Haley and Macy Chambers. Ashley Hively, Avery Dillon, Jordyn Stevenson will round out the seniors."
Coach Kollmeyer will be looking to sophomore Jalen Lavers to lead the Cats in the pitching circle this year and a host of younger players to round out the varsity squad.
"We've got a great group of girls out this year who have shown up and continue to meet expectations at practice each day. This group shows up each day to work hard, and they want to be pushed and challenged daily. It will be exciting to see what they can accomplish on the field this year," said Coach Kollmeyer.
