The girls varsity basketball hit the courts again after the break, fall short to the Wellington Crusaders.

The Mulvane girls basketball teams were back in action on Friday, January 8th as they hosted the ranked Wellington Crusaders in an AVCTL D4 matchup. The Cats played a tough game against the #10 ranked Crusaders but fell 33-57. Sophomore Karlie Kanaga led the Wildcats with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Junior Kamryn Nolan led the Wildcats in rebounds with 9 and she finished with 4 points.

The Cats fell behind quickly in the first quarter and only managed to put in 4 points but bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring the Crusaders 12-9 but went into halftime down 16-24. The Cats had a pretty good 13 point 3rd quarter but Wellington dropped in 19 points of their own and took the 4th quarter by 10 for the 57-33 win. The girl's varsity falls to 1-6 on the season and 0-3 in league play.

The JV girls fought a tough first half and went into halftime only down by 2 points but the Crusaders took control in the second half and the Cats fell 22-42. The Cats were led by sophomore Emma Kendrick who finished with 11 points, freshman Madison Shaw finished with 6 points, junior Bennett Cottrell finished with 6 points, and freshman Ashley Young finished with 2 points.

The C-Team girls only played 2 quarters due to a shortage of players, the first quarter was very close with the Cats down 15-17 but the Crusaders pulled ahead in the second quarter and the Wildcats fell 21-28. Freshman Madison Phipps led the Cats with 7 points, freshman Ashlyn Alumbaugh, Justice Blake, and Madison Shaw all finished with 4 points each, and freshman Elizabeth Blankenship finished with 2 points.
