The MMS girls basketball traveled to Prairie Hills in the only games of the holiday week, go 1-3 on the evening.

The MMS Girls traveled to Prairie Hills on Monday, November 23rd for the only games of the holiday week. The girls went 1-3 on the evening against the Crusaders as the 7th grade A-team fell 17-25, the 7th grade B-team won a close game 17-16, the 8th grade A-team fell 15-33, and the 8th grade B-team fell 21-26.

The 7A girls started the game out strong as they took an 11-3 lead into halftime, but a tough third quarter where the Cats were outscored 9-0 had the girls down 11-12 and Prairie Hills kept that momentum into the 4th quarter, outscoring the girls 13-6 for the 25-17 win. Grace Carpenter led the Wildcats with 5 points, Kinley Kendrick and Ellie Willig both finished with 3 points, and Teagan Heersche, Elle Everhart, and Jaryn Baker all finished with 2 points each.

The 7B team had a close game with Prairie Hills but were able to nip the Crusaders by 1 point with the 17-16 win. Ellie Willig and Peyton Seibel both led the Wildcats with 6 points each, Elle Everhart finished with 3 points, and Adriah Dedeaux finished with 2 points.

The 8A girls played a good first half against the tough Crusaders, going into halftime down 8-14, but struggled to get the ball in the bucket the second half as the Cats fell 15-33. Madi Cunningham led the Cats with 5 points while Lexi Cunningham and Olivia Ellis both dropped in 4 points each, and Rylee Dieker finished with 2 points.

The 8B girls struggled to get points the first half of the game and went into halftime down 2-12. The girls played much better in the second half, scoring 19 points but were unable to make up the deficit and fell 21-26. Madi Cunningham led the Cats with 9 points and Jade Smallwood finished with 7 points, and Reece Lazier finished with 5 points.

The Wildcats will resume action on Monday, December 1st as they host Haysville West in what will be mostly empty gyms now as KSHSAA recently ruled that no spectators will be allowed in the gyms from December 1st until January 28th for winter activities.
