The Middle School Wildcats faced their toughest battle of the year last Thursday against the Wellington Crusaders. The 7th grade team came into the game with just 1 loss. The first quarter was a defensive battle and ended with no scoring. The Crusaders scored twice in the second quarter and the Cats were just 1 yard away from scoring as the clock ticked into halftime. The Cats could not find the endzone in the second half and fell 0-40. The 7th graders are sitting at 4-2 (3-1 in league) on the season going into the final season game against Prairie Hills.

"We knew we had a big challenge this week with Wellington and that we would need to play our best game of the year.  We moved the ball early but failed to capitalize on these drives.  The boys played hard but just could not seem to find a way to compete with a very good Wellington team," said Coach Beikman.

The 8th grade team had trouble finding the endzone as well against a very large Wellington team and went into halftime down 0-44. They only allowed 6 points in the second half and the final was 0-50. The Cats lost their starting runningback Fisher Dye to an elbow injury in the second quarter. The 8th grade team is sitting at 5-1 on the season (3-1 in league) and will face Prairie Hills on Thursday.

"We had a tough night on both sides of the ball and found ourselves outmatched against a very good Wellington team.  I felt that the boys played hard and fought the entire game. Even though this is not the outcome that we hoped for, I am very proud of this team and how well they play together," said Coach Beikman.
